Hmm. only 2 months to be ready, some may think it should be a piece of cake but um how can you rush a masterpiece. I wonder if I can create something worthy.
I have worked behind the AIPP lines, back in 2013. I was lucky enough to be involved in handling the entries, working behind the scene preparing and delivering the works for judging. It was a valuable experience from which I learned all about how these events run. It was good to connect with experienced photographers, judges and be a part if the industry I am working in.
I have mixed feelings about this stuff, I really like the fact we have a industry body that and help us gauge and measure different styles of works. There are just so many talented people creating images it can in some ways make you feel untalented. On the other have it makes you try harder to improve your own ability. I have won AIPP golds and silvers which is an honer but I don’t see who that really defines anyone as great I really means to me I am at a professional level I am proud to be there and I have worked hard to learn this trade . As we are all products of our surroundings we can learn but some people are just naturals. To have an eye to see light and compose a story in one frame is our challenge we are always chasing the holy grail shot, maybe it is one shot in your life that defines your career maybe no one will ever see that one shot you keep private the one that could be a gold at AIPP.
I want to be part of the industry as a professional photographer AIPP is something to definitely consider being affiliated with. I look forward to entering some work but the competition is hot and there are many talented people to compare my work with . The expense is a concern maybe not worth the outlay but it is just something I should be involved in as a photographer, being involved means I can meet and interact with others in this field that in itself is valuable in my opinion..
What an interesting weekend, at The Epson AIPP awards.
Here are some of my notes leading up to the event. Note to self only upload the cropped image I made the mistake of submitting the original image uncropped and I was contacted to explain why my digital file was different than the print. It was a rookie mistake and I now know to only upload the final cropped print file not the original working image.
